Program Overview

The BEI Certified Exit Planner designation program will be offered on a quarterly basis. The 60-hour program will have a prerequisite of a two-day face-to-face Boot Camp (15 hours total), will include 10 online courses (25 hours total) and 20 hours of real-world Exit Plan creation case work (one transfer to insiders plan and one sell to third party plan), all of which will be completed within 90 days. The 10 courses will be presented via an online video lecture format, as well as have supplementary reading material, case studies and assessment tests for each of the online courses. After completion of the online courses, CExP™ candidates will complete two sample Exit Plans via BEI’s Exit Plan creation software. The course material that will be covered during the designation program will include:

  • Engaging Exit Planning Clients
  • The Five Critical Elements of a Successful Exit Plan
  • Understanding and Identifying Owner Objectives
  • Quantifying Business and Personal Financial Resources
  • Maximizing and Protecting Business Value
  • Ownership Transfers to Third Parties
  • Ownership Transfers to Insiders (Children, Key Employees, ESOPs)
  • Business Continuity (Stay Bonus Plans, Buy/Sell Agreements)
  • Personal Wealth and Estate Planning
  • Family Business Planning
  • Deferred Compensation
  • Ethics
  • Exit Plan Creation Case Work via EPIC™ (Transfer to Insider Plan Scenario and Transfer to Third Party Plan Scenario)
